Take that invitation to any Linder’s or Flower Mart locations when doing your Mother’s Day, Spring Flower or garden shopping between May 11^th thru May 14^th and The Friends of the Giese Memorial Library will receive a donation of 15% of the pretax purchase, just that easy. 100% of the funds we receive stay right here in Wyoming. Your generosity will go to help support programs at our library such as the children’s summer reading program, as well as many other activities throughout the year. We are looking for volunteers to help spruce up the rain gardens at the library Saturday the 5th of May at 10:00 am. Please bring your own tools (small spades, little three prong hand rake, large rakes and gloves). We will be pulling weeds, pulling mulch away from the new plants and fluffing up the mulch. Please the more people we have there the less time it will take, so make every effort to help us out. We are going to get it done come rain or high water (within reason of course).  Please call or sign up at the library. 651-462-9001

The Wyoming Area Giese Memorial Library was proud to be a community partner for the first World Book Night in the United States, following the impressive lauch of this campaign in the United Kingdom and Ireland last year.  In cities across the country volunteers gave away half a million free books in one day.  This is an outreach effort to new or light readers.

Copies of Because of Winn Dixie, Hunger Games, My Sister's Keeper, The Kite Runner, Q is for Quarry , The Things They Carried, and The Poisonwood Bible were distributed in nursing homes, malls, coffee shops and schools.  Each of the volunteers could enthusiastically share their love of reading with one of there favorite books.  To read more about World Book Night and/or to sign up for notification of next year's campaign, visit www.worldbooknight.org.

The Friends of the Giese Memorial Library is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the active promotion, welfare and support of the Giese Memorial Library. The mission of this organization is to build a strong relationship between the Library and the community which it serves.

Volunteers are needed at the library to assist in shelving books, straightening up and miscellaneous tasks…hours needed would be all of or any part between 2 and closing, totally up to you. Everyone is invited to the Membership Meeting April 12^th at 7:00 PM at the Giese Memorial Library.

During the meeting we will have an election for one Board member. If you are interested in sitting on the board that helps shape and promote the activities at our library please make every effort to attend, we would love to have you aboard. But if you just want to come and see what we have been up to or upcoming events please come and join us, after all it is your library.

A big hardy thanks to all those who attend the pancake breakfast..as you can see there were a lot of $2.00 meals served. And a special thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work!!! And last but not least thanks to the Meadows on Fairview for hosting this event.You guys are he best!!

A tree is placed in the library with names and ages of children.  Patrons and friends of the library either pick up a tag and purchase a book for that child or donate money to be used for purchasing needed books.  All money should be donated by December 10^th and unwrapped books must be brought into the library by December 13^th.

Area residents have given generously in the past encouraging learning as well as fun.  Give the gift of reading!
