A peaceful gathering place, the library provides our community with not only books, but all types of media, from Internet access to dvds. Residents of all ages can find a comfortable place to study, or take advantage of the many programs the Giese Memorial Library has to offer.

Volunteers are Needed!!

Calling all hands on deck...we need EVERYONE...ask family, friends, men, women, age appropriate children.
This is a HUGE project, the more people we have the less time it will take.
PLEASE KEEP THE DATE OPEN and MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO HELP OUT...PLEASE


•    Volunteers are Needed!! The Wyoming Area Library Society NEEDS YOUR HELP!!! Planting of the garden will take place on Saturday, August 20th beginning at 9:00 a.m. There are 3 different shifts available:
o    9:00 to 12:30
o    1:00 to 5:00
o    All Day
Lunch and beverages will be provided.  Please bring your own gloves, shovels, rakes and wheel barrels (if you have one).

Rain Garden Benches

Cody Eggers constructed four benches to beautify the front landscaping of the Wyoming Area Giese Memorial Library as his Eagle Scout badge project.  Along with other members of Scout Troop 487 of St. Peter Catholic Church, Forest Lake, Eggers (pictured back row, farthest left), installed the benches last week.

Family Summer Reading Program

at the Giese Memorial-Wyoming Area Library

Calling all world travelers!  Hop on board for the Giese Memorial/Wyoming Area Library’s 2011 summer reading program, One World, Many Stories.  Readers from preschool thru grade 6 are invited to participate.  The program will run from Tuesday, June 14 thru Tuesday, August 9.

On Tuesday, June 14 at 10:00 am in the library’s meeting room, join us as musician Ross Sutter presents music and songs of Scandinavia, Scotland and Ireland. Ross accompanies himself on guitar, dulcimer, button accordion and bodhran, the Irish goat-skin drum.  Music from other parts of the world will both educate and entertain you and your child.  This event is funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.  Limited amount of free tickets will be available at the library starting June 5.

Linder's Fund Raiser for the Friends Print E-mail

Friends of the Geise Memorial Library announce a major fund raisings event in conjunction with all Linder’s and Flower Mart locations throughout the Twin Cities area on May 20th thru May 23rd.


All you have to do is download an invitation, or pick one up from the library or any of the local stores throughout the city. Take that invitation to any Linder’s or a Flower Mart location when doing your Spring flower shopping and The Friends of the Geise Memorial Library will receive a donation of 15% of the pretax purchase, just that easy. The funds we receive will go to help support programs at our library such as the children’s summer reading program, as well as many other activities throughout the year. The Friends of the Giese Memorial Library is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the active promotion, welfare and support of the Giese Memorial Library. The Friends organization helps build a strong relationship between the library and community in which it serves and works with schools and community to help provide educational opportunity for persons of all ages.

Please help us get the word out on this fund raising promotion, email your friends and family, post it on your facebook, anything you can do to pass the word around about shopping for flowers on our selected days would be greatly appreciated.


So please help promote the educational needs of all ages and shop at any of the many Linder’s and Flower Mart locations throughout the Twin Cities May 20th thru May 23rd.

Computer Classes for SeniorsGiese Memorial Library Senior Computer Classes

The Wyoming Area Giese Memorial Library is collaborating with Assisted Living, Meadows on Fairview, Wyoming to sponsor a 6-week series of Senior Computer classes.  The classes will be taught by Dean Jensen and will take place in the community room at the library.  Meadows received a grant from United Way for the classes which are for seniors 62 and older.

All classes are included in your registration.  The classes will include two sessions on an introduction to Windows which helps you navigate the computer and four sessions covering Word Processing which helps you create documents.  Classes are scheduled for the second and fourth Wednesdays of January, February and March from 1 to 3 in the afternoon.  Class size is limited for this hands-on experience; seniors are invited to bring their own laptop.  To register, please contact Robin Rinke by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
